6-MP (Mercaptopurine) is an immunosuppressive and chemotherapeutic medicine that is primarily used to treat cancer, especially acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), as well as autoimmune disorders such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
As an antimetabolite, 6-MP inhibits DNA and RNA synthesis in cells, slowing or stopping the growth of rapidly dividing cells, including Colon cancer cells.
